Tales from Ichirouganaim
Those of you that have been following my photographs on Instagram may find this shot strangely familiar. Yes it is the same bow of the then unfinished fishing boat.
I remember as a young lad watching the master boat builder, chipping away at a stout piece of mahogany,. Whether keel or frame, I cannot recall but that memory stuck with me these near two score years.
These boat builders put their all into their work. Lives depend on it both on shore and on sea. However, this art of building wooden boats that bear brave fishermen and load in Atlantic sea for days is dying. Fiberglass boats are increasing preferred, still if you think about Bajan fishing it is of one of these colourful boats on blue waters.
